About the Choir

Hear us
Founded in 1986, the New Cambridge Singers are a choir of 35 singers, drawn from a wide range of backgrounds. Led by our musical director, James Potter, the choir performs to a high standard, with membership being secured by audition every three years.

We offer four varied programmes per year, which we generally perform both in a historic Cambridge venue, and again out in the local community in one of the surrounding towns or villages. To find out what exciting programmes we have lined up for this season, please check out our upcoming concerts.

As a choir run by its members, we rely on the goodwill and enthusiasm of our members and our audiences for the continued development of the ensemble, and we enormously appreciate the regular attendance of our many supporters.

We regularly commission and premiere new music at New Cambridge Singers. Members of the public can support us to make new music by contributing to our New Music Fund or by buying shares in specific new commissions through our New Cambridge Songs Scheme.

'I really enjoyed the "special seminar" today. I nearly didn’t come as I thought I was too busy, but it was well worth the time spent and a very enjoyable break in the normal working day!'
'It was beautiful! Thanks for bringing them here!'
